Sundarkand Path at Home – Simple Preparation Guide

Sundara Kanda Path is a sacred recitation dedicated to Lord Hanuman and Lord Rama. Whether you are doing it for peace, strength, devotion, or prayer for someone, what matters most is sincerity and faith.

Set Your Intention (Sankalp)

Why are you doing it—gratitude, peace, strength, prayer for someone, or devotion to Hanuman / Rama? Keep it sincere and simple

Choose a Clean & Quiet Place

You can sit near your home mandir/altar if you have one.

Personal Cleanliness

Many people bathe before starting and wear clean clothes (traditional if you prefer, but not required).

Gather items (optional)

You can arrange these items if available:

  • Sundara Kanda book / lyrics
  • Diya (lamp)
  • Incense (agarbatti)
  • Flowers
  • Fruits / Prasad
  • Water
Best Time to Perform

Commonly preferred times:

  • Tuesday
  • Saturday
  • Early morning
  • Evening

But you can perform it any day, any time with devotion.

Before You Begin
  • Light diya and incense (optional)
  • Pray to Lord Ganesha (for removing obstacles)
  • Offer prayers to:
    • Lord Hanuman
    • Lord Rama
    • Goddess Sita
    • Lord Lakshmana
During the Path
  • Read with full focus and श्रद्धा (devotion)
  • Don’t worry too much about perfect pronunciation
  • Understanding and sincerity matter more
After Completion
  • Perform aarti
  • Offer prasad
  • Sit quietly for a few minutes
  • Feel the calm and positivity
Many devotees also follow simple dietary practices on that day, such as eating sattvic food or observing a fast, but these are entirely optional and depend on personal or family traditions. If this is your first time performing the path, there’s no need to feel pressured—what truly matters is your devotion and sincerity, not doing everything perfectly.
